There's a lot of corn between Minneapolis and Madison.

Once you get into Wisconsin, cows become more common and the countryside becomes more heavily forested. At least along the route I took. My GPS gave me directions that avoided the major highways for most of the trip, and still beat the Google Maps time estimate by a fair amount.

I met up with Bo and Heidi, my friends and hosts in Madison, and Eric and Larissa at an outdoor theater. We had a delicious picnic lunch, and watched a fun production of The Taming of the Shrew.

Back at Bo and Heidi's house, we made and ate some sushi and hung out around a bonfire. I got some tips on where to get tires and which roads to take to get to Chicago from their friend Vaughn.

What do the different colors on your route mean? Do they refer to your road speed?

In the daily maps, yes. In the overview maps, it's a color per day.

Nice meeting you Larissa (Anonymously) Wednesday, 21 September 2011 10:04am
