Getting There - Aneel's Travelogue

A Grey Day in Taipei Taoyuan Airport, Taipei, Taiwan, Wednesday, 01 June 2011 8:06am

Taipei airport seems better than I remember it. I'm in the middle of a four hour layover and I've had some grilled eel, a tapioca milk tea, and two free chair massages in the Green Relaxation Zone (best massages I've ever received from furniture, for whatever that's worth). And one of the free wifi networks actually works!

I slept reasonably well on the transpacific flight, but I'm still pretty tired. I think this layover effectively made it impossible to jump directly to Jakarta time, but I don't think I would have been able to stay up until 6am San Francisco time anyway. Too much good food and drink before takeoff.

Jenny and Dave saw me off with a meal at a Peruvian restaurant, where we reminisced over pisco sours and lomo saltado and talked about possible future trips... Madagascar? Jordan? Zimbabwe? I handed off my house keys to them. It'll be weird to come back from this trip and not come home to our shared apartment.
