Getting There - Aneel's Travelogue

It was really cold when we woke up. Apparently, the raccoons in Samuel P. Taylor State Park know how to open the latches to the food storage bins, and also how to work zippers. They ate all of the leftover cereal and took a look in my underseat bag, but decided that my tire changing kit was unappetizing.

I'd like to say that I'm getting packing my panniers down to a science, but it still takes me a while to situate everything. One of the tricks is that the tent needs to be put into one of the panniers first (because it half-fills it, and provides structure for the rest of the load), so I need to take everything out of the tent before packing it.

After a quick ride along a bike path to Lagunitas, we warmed up over breakfast at the deli/cafe. Good potato pancakes.

Then it was a slow (for me, the others had less trouble with it) climb up White's Hill and then a quick descent into Fairfax. We biked the rest of the way almost non-stop. We kept doing surveys to find out if anyone was hungry or needed a rest, and kept coming up negative.

It was a nice day, so the bridge was a zoo. We parted ways after it, to let Jenny and Don sightsee a bit and take some pictures while I headed home.

It's nice to be back. I'll be psyched when my quads stop burning.
