I'm just back from a taxi tour of the local archeological sites. I meant to go to the museums as well, but it turns out they're mostly closed on Monday. The reason I took the taxi I did was that he'd claimed that he could get me into one of the closed museums today, which would have made the tour plan for tomorrow somewhat simpler. However, when we got there it turned out that they're not only closed today but they have a big event tomorrow, so even his connection couldn't get us in. He didn't knock anything off of the price of the trip, though.

The pyramids here were built with millions of adobe bricks. Six hundred years of rain (with the occasional El Nino for spice) have reduced them to these eerie eroded lumps. In some cases you can see the structure of the floors. They're large. Six stories of mud.

We saw a bunch of kids on the trip, so I had kid with rice and beans for lunch. Tasty.

I want to talk to some actual tour agencies about trips tomorrow (a guide who speaks English would make the trip more interesting), but they all seem to be closed or having a siesta.
