Getting There - Aneel's Travelogue

Exhausted in Cozumel San Miguel de Cozumel, Quintana Roo, Mexico, Sunday, 17 February 2013 8:48pm

Normally, the fact that I'm rarely able to sleep well before a trip isn't a big problem. I get on the plane and fall asleep before takeoff and have a good long nap. So I wasn't too worried when all of the dryers at the apartment complex where I'm staying were busy until 11pm, and I wasn't fully packed until midnight. Adrienne was kind enough to give me a ride to the airport at 5am, so I didn't even have to worry about Super Shuttle.

However, sleeping on the flight doesn't work so well when the flight is in two short segments. There was something like 30 minutes of flight time between Austin and Houston, and an hour and a half between Houston and Cozumel. I've been fighting to stay awake all day, and I'm in one of those states where nothing seems like fun.

Heidi was supposed to do her first day of checkout dives for her certification today, but the winds are too high and the port is closed to small boat traffic. I'm really hoping that it calms down by morning. The dive operator thinks it will, but you never know.

You're in Cozumel! I'm looking forward to hearing what you think of it. I went there for my first-ever dive trip but haven't been back since so I don't know how it compares to other places. (Also, that was a "few" years ago.)

Yep! I'm here with a brand new diver (Heidi), and a diver who hasn't been underwater in a few years, so we wanted to try someplace that was easily accessible.
